November 16, 2001 Updated my links page. Added a link to my new Civilization III page, and moved links to some non-Diablo related pages from the index to the links page.
November 1, 2001 Posted the final two chapters for Wussie Girl. Don't miss this one!
September 28, 2001 Updated my links page. Added a link to my new Jagged Alliance 2 site on my main index page. Fans of my Diablo II playstyles and characters and philosophies may find Jagged Alliance of interest, as it is a superb strategy and role playing game.
September 21, 2001 The Lurker Lounge has closed, and with it, many of my lines of communication to fellow players. Roland has decided to reopen his Strategy Compendium, including a forum. This may be a potential alternate to the Lounge, and either way it should be a good site. I've added it to my links page.
September 13, 2001 Realizing that some of you may check this portion of my site without regularly visiting my Expansion pages, I have decided to link from here to my new section containing articles written on the subject of the terrorist attack and its consequences. You will find the link at the bottom of my index page.
I also invite you to visit and bookmark my Expansion Page, as well, if you haven't already. I am running that as a sister site now, rather than as an extension of this site. Thank you.
September 10, 2001 After nine days out of action, my site returns to full operation today.
The warpcore server has switched providers as a side effect of a huge business transaction involving my generous webhost and his company. They landed a huge new contract and had to make some changes to keep up. The warpcore server was only down for a couple of hours, but FTP has been firewalled over the past week, pending security upgrades. I plan to conclude Wussie's tale fairly soon. I know some of you are dying to hear her finally "talk about it", but you'll have to wait a wee bit longer. Also coming soon, updates to the Hall of Heroes, including rules changes regarding patch 1.09. In the mean time, if you want new content, head to my Expansion Page (linked at the bottom of the main index page) for two newly posted updates to Expansion characters.
August 28, 2001 I'm proud to announce the opening of Moradin's Diablo II Art Gallery.
A fan of my Diablo website has graciously offered to devote some of his spare time and artistic talent to illustrating my characters. The first picture has been completed. You can view it in the new art gallery, linked near the bottom of my index page. We intend to fill the gallery with more and more paintings over the months to come. This is great practice and publicity for Moradin, and an added touch of class for this site.
Yes. Of course we had to start with Ember!
We all must face our demons sooner or later. :)
August 19, 2001 What happens when Wussie starts cursing more and more? (And why is she so upset??) Find out! Read her report from Hell Act Three!
August 13, 2001 Completed Ribinak's page with a final update. Poor guy... banished to the Void many moons ago.
August 5, 2001 Wussie's dance through the Canyon of the Magi has been recorded for your perusal.
August 4, 2001 Updated Wussie Girl's page with most of Act Two Hell. "It don't mean a thing if you ain't got that swing."
I want to apologize to all my fans who've sent me email in the last month or two. I've failed to respond to much of it, and that's a bad BAD habit for a writer to form. I DO read every single piece of fan mail, even ones that are critical or the odd flame I may receive now and then. Just want you all to know that. I'd like to respond, but I'm getting more and more mail, and haven't been making time to answer. Most professional novelists end up having several canned responses on file to print out and sign, or email back, just to send SOMETHING back in response. I haven't gone to that yet, and don't know whether I ever will or not, as I like to give people personal attention -- yet sheer numbers can make that impossible. Every response I have written has been personally handled, no copy and paste jobbers. I hope if your message is among those that haven't gotten a reply, that you don't take it personally. Sometimes the most worthy letters are among those I don't reply to, either because there's nothing to add, or because there's too much to add. Or sometimes just because it comes in at a busy time. I very much appreciate your feedback, suggestions, comments, thoughts and stories. Keep them coming.
I've taken down the placeholder for Urligon. I only finished one act with him, and never wrote a report. Plans change, sometimes. I may port him to the Expansion some day, or start him over there. Or perhaps not. Time will tell.
Removed Runica from my links page. RIP Runica. Sorry if any traffic from my site helped lead to your early demise. Fortunately, you shall rise again from the ashes at Dii.net (available on my links page), so I'm looking forward to that rebirth. Also of note, lots of updates lately to the Hall of Heroes and some more coming, and also updates coming to Ember's Expansion Exploits. Remember to check those pages separately, as I rarely post notice of goings-on there on this news page (they each have their own news pages, as does my Expansion Pack page). Also, I've decided against a mailbag page for the Hostility Protest, for the time being. Time constraints. I've got enough irons in the fire already. Perhaps at some point, though, I'll come back to this notion.
One more note: at the Arreat Summit, official Blizzard D2X webpage for strategy and tips, most of the new screenshot illustrations for Druid and Assassin skills were taken by me and submitted during the beta. I'd ignored Geoff Frazier's call for help in that regard for a whole week, expecting others to rush to assist, but when no one did, I stepped up and took all the shots I could and sent them to him. My beefs about the PK matter are with the Blizzard North design team, not GF and the guys at Blizzard HQ in southern Cal (and besides, that's only one -- albeit important -- aspect of a large, overall positive game design. I just hope they change their policy before they make an MMORPG and/or Diablo 3). You can see which shots I took by hovering over the thumbnails under the skill listings. Immortalized in those pictures include my beta chars BlackBirds, Pelara, Grizzerly, and SuzyClaw, and now Rill and Grizzet are pictured there too, showing off Blades of Ice and Solar Creeper. I've always been both a patron and supporter of these sites, as I think it's a good thing to let Blizzard pay for a big site and all the bandwidth, for reference materials on this very complex game, and I'm happy to encourage players to visit there and make use of its resources. You can get there from my link page, if you don't already have it bookmarked.
July 23, 2001 Updated Wussie Girl's page with the rest of Act One of Hell. Just a one word comment: something that rhymes with "slouch".
July 22, 2001 Updated Wussie Girl's page. Act One of Hell was so painful, I don't even want to talk about it.
July 20, 2001 Completed Skeletorr's Page. Added the last chapter (Sixteen) and an Epilogue.
I updated my Protest page. I made a few minor editing changes to the end of the recently posted section. I also added a new page to the protest record, entitled The Last Word. It's not what you may imagine when you consider that title, so give it a look and see what you think.
July 19, 2001 Since I posted Blizzard's response to my protest three days ago, I have received a lot of thoughtful emails from readers. With each new response that comes in, I am moved more and more toward the creation of a Protest Mail Bag page, wherein I would select a representative sample of mail on this subject for posting.
I do have some reservations about the idea. One concern is that the nature of replies would be changed, with people knowing there was a chance their letter might be publicized. At this moment, I haven't received a single flame (unusual -- I've received a few scattered ones in the past) and that might change. I also wouldn't want to discourage anybody from writing to me, but that can be solved by you asking that your replies be kept confidential -- I will honor any such request that you make. I would post the letters unedited, and include the sender's name, nickname and/or email address ONLY if they expressly give permission for each.
I don't want to start another forum. There are plenty of those, and many that are better run than I could manage. My time is already spread a little thin with my existing commitments, and it's impossible to walk the line between censorship and losing control of the quality of a forum without unhappy compromises on both ends. This subject cannot get the airing it deserves (either pro or con) on a forum, anyway. It is just too volatile. I don't know whether a mail bag would do any better, but I am thinking it is worth a shot.
I'm interested in what you think about this. If you believe this is either a very good idea, or a very bad one, write to me and tell me why. I'll give it a few days, maybe up to a week, then make my decision. Also, if you've written to me in the past -- SPECIFICALLY about my protest -- and would like your letters kept confidential, drop me a note saying so. Thanks.
July 16, 2001 Updated my Protest Page. I posted the complete, unabridged exchange with Max Shaefer, VP of Blizzard North. Also posted my current thoughts on this matter.
July 11, 2001 Updated Skeletorr's adventures. Added Chapter Fifteen.
July 9, 2001 Updated my Diablo II links page.
Opened my Expansion page. Yes, I bought the Expansion pack. There are a number of issues with it that I'm not content with. The game shipped FULL of holes, and Blizzard broke several of their own promises. I'll get into all of that some other time. I hope they patch all of the worst problems, and soon. Bolty suggested that I should compile and maintain a bug list (which at this point would be quite extensive). If Blizzard looks like they will be slacking off, leaving broken game features and major bugs in disrepair, I just might compile that list. We'll see how things go before I rush to judgement, but so far my confidence is not high.
My Expansion page sports a new color scheme, but otherwise retains the format you are already familiar with. Considering how much they changed for original D2 (breaking another promise there), it would be impossible for me to continue several of my characters, especially Hermes. I don't think I will go to the trouble of trying to secure a patch of version 1.05, just to play a couple of old characters. The ones I cared about the most were all completed, or were parked at certain points to await transfer to D2X. There are still some chapters left to write for this, my Diablo 2 page -- including the conclusion to Skeletorr's quest, Wussie Girl's trip through Hell Difficulty, and closing chapters to several other characters played past the point of their most recent updates -- but it now looks like all my D2 playing days are over. Once all the reports and stories have been completed, this site will be idled except for any new Hall of Heroes entries and updates, as I will likely be playing only with the Expansion from now on.
While my Diablo II page is winding down, the Expansion page will carry on with new adventures. The old page will remain alive as an archive, even after the last of its stories have been told. As old stories end, new ones begin. In invite you to bookmark my Expansion page, and I hope to see you around. As always, feel free to drop me an email any time.
Coming soon, an update to my Protest Page. Max Shaefer, VP of Blizzard North, offered an official response to my protest. I'll chronicle the entire exchange, then append my response and my current position on the issue.
July 8, 2001 Updated Skeletorr's adventures. Added Chapter Fourteen.
June 28, 2001 Opened Ember's Expansion Exploits! New rules for the new game, separate listings, more features, higher induction requirements, more heroes per player, more more more more more of everything good! (Ooh, I'd make a good marketer, don't ya think? :)
Updated Eligibility Rule 2 for the Hall of Heroes (concerning eligible patch versions). Also performed some maintenance, including moving this page to a new directory (for easier updating). If you link directly to the Hall, you will need to update your bookmark.
Mothballed my Fire Skills guide for the moment. I will need to update it for both Diablo 2 and the Expansion, before I bring it back online.
June 17, 2001 Happy Father's Day! Have you honored your father yet today? I'll be having a special lunch with my Dad. I hope you enjoy the day.
I never expected the D2X beta to last this long. My beta report page is in need of some more structure, to make better sense of it, and to mark some reports as obsolete. I'll make some changes here as I can. In the mean time, I hope you enjoy my latest reports. Remember, I'm currently updating the beta report page without any notice here in my site history, so if you are interested, keep checking back there every couple of days or so.
June 4, 2001 Sirian's Diablo 2 Page has reopened for business. Welcome back to all my visitors, and thank you for your support.
May 24 to
June 4, 2001

May 11, 2001 I've updated Wussie Girl's report through Nightmare.
May 9, 2001 I've been busy reading and responding to various forum threads regarding the expansion beta. As such, I haven't much touched my site this week, but there are some HoH inductees to post. I've 3dotted Wussie Girl already, so I will be writing a report on her as well as trying to catch up on some of my other character reports I've fallen behind on. However, if my Beta CD ever gets here (5 days late already, and counting), I may get further distracted. Fear not, this lull will not last indefinitely.
May 3, 2001 Because some people found parts of my Chronicles of a Throwing Barbarian irredeemably offensive, I have removed that character and all traces of him from my site. Please do not ask me about this. I will not respond.

April 22, 2001 Added Smasher to the site. Not your usual Sirian character or writeup. Read at your own risk. :)
April 20, 2001 A new hero has been inducted into Ember's Hall: Count Azote. A detailed report has been posted. Some others have met eligibility, and I am waiting on their pics and reports. Rather than continue to duplicate notices about inductions both here and at the Hall, I will be doing them only at the Hall in most cases, from now on. Those interested in staying on top of new inductions in the future should check the "last updated" date at the Hall rather than relying on this page or the update indicator on my main page to keep them informed.
