The Aztec War was the high mark of this game for me. I honestly did not know if I could hold at Ning-Hsia! A game on Prince, giving me a scary battle on a front behind which I've got a bunch of cardboard cutouts. I really enjoyed that.
So far Ning-Hsia's been concentrating on culture: Library, Monastaries, Theater, sometimes Artist Specialists... The border has been pushed back to bring the Gold Mine under our control!

1530AD: Another request for military aid, this time from a foe.

The AIs were regularly asking me for aid in their wars. I kept agreeing when America or India asked, and of course having to turn down the others. It's good that the AI was asking for help. Once the spark ignites, things tend to work pretty well. Getting that first spark going is an iffy thing, though, in many games, because the number of warmongering personalities is smaller than the number of builders. If you draw a mix with one or zero warmongers, it can even devolve in to one big lovefest, with hugs all around for everybody.![]()
1540AD: Discover Paper, and also pop my sixth leader, my first non-Engineer! Perfect timing, too.

I can leap ahead in the race for Liberalism by 2800 beakers! I already had a monopoly on Paper, but I am behind with Philosophy. This will all but guarantee that I will get to Liberalism first.
Here's a look at what Washington's got. (He's no runaway in this game! Been in too many wars.)

He's up Music, Guilds and a couple more beyond that that we can't see in this pic. Oddly, he lacks Philosophy. Greeks were the ones who got there first, but they are sticking with Judaism to remain part of that religious bloc.
1545AD: Our Caravel has circumnavigated.

It wasn't all that long of a trip!
Notice my 4-stack of workers? Running around chopping in a single turn, or putting up a mine or cottage.
1570AD: More action between the AIs has begun.

Having circumnavigated, and still having a Paper monopoly, I start to sell my map info for some cash.

1585AD: Whoa! Actual progress by the Aztecs.

1630AD: Almost to Liberalism. Washington wants another favor.

Greece is running a 4CC here (Four City Challenge). They got boxed in early and have been the runt all game.

America and India each had seven cities, although India just lost one in this current war.
I'm sitting at fourteen cities, though some of them are fledgling.
