Here's a shot of the barbarians milling around, this after I have already fought with a number of them.

I'm proud to say that I ultimately held this road! The barbs did not manage to pillage it, although they did get a couple chances where they had a unit in range. Instead they attacked my wounded units, in those instances.
I did heal up and gather an attack force to go after Liz again. I had ten units in the stack! Well, one elite spear killed SIX of those units! I did manage to raze one more city, but that was definitely the end of my progress up there.

Steady progress continued on the Spanish front, now that I had some miniSoDs over there.

I decided to make peace with Liz, since she was offering me a city and two workers. Counting the city captured in the peace deal, I captured four of her cities, added to the seven Americans for a total of eleven cities on my continent captured.

As I moved into position to attack Spain's last city, the Aztecs beat me to it. Of course, I captured or razed five of Spain's cities, so not getting the deathblow does not deprive me of credit for wiping her out.

With me at peace with England for the duration, I signed on with her vs the Aztecs.

I immediately captured, and razed, Madrid, which had the Pyramids.
The only thing left to do was to overrun as many Aztec cities as I could manage. I sent a few more boatloads of units, but once the logistics stretched out to where reinforcements could not reach the front before the game would end, I stopped training more troops and built temples in my core to finally expand my borders (and try to overtake the Aztecs, who were ahead of me, to earn a histographic win).
